Local-first keyword research

Compare directory niches with real search-market data.

Directory Market Research is a desktop command-line application that retrieves keyword ideas and historical metrics from the Google Ads API, then stores them locally for transparent niche comparison.

About the application

Research without a hosted data platform

The application runs on the authorized user's computer. It is designed to help evaluate potential directory-site markets using consistent, objective measurements.

Research keyword ideas

Submit a seed phrase and retrieve related keyword ideas for a selected market, currently Canada in English.

Compare transparent metrics

Review search volume, competition, bid ranges, and monthly history without an invented “best niche” score.

Keep research local

Results are stored in a SQLite database on the user's device and can be exported locally as CSV.

Google Ads integration

Why Google authorization is requested

Directory Market Research uses Google OAuth to make authorized, read-only research requests to the Google Ads API. The application uses the Google Ads scope to call KeywordPlanIdeaService and retrieve keyword ideas and available historical metrics.

The application does not create, edit, or delete campaigns, ads, billing details, or other Google Ads resources. OAuth credentials and retrieved results remain on the user's computer; there is no application-operated server receiving them.
